About our organization:
The Wilmington Youth Jazz Band (WYJB) is a non profit organization that was founded in 2004 by Wilmington's own Fostina Dixon-Kilgoe. Fostina was awarded a grant as an alumnus of Berklee College of Music to launch this program. Our mission is to expose, educate and culturally enrich students through learning jazz music in an effort to maintain and expand jazz throughout our communities. This effort reaches youth from economical and culturally diverse backgrounds.
The Wilmington Youth Jazz Band is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com. The organization also enjoys the sponsorship and support of the Wilmington Flower Market
